AWARD-WINNING LONDON BASED CHOREOGRAPHER & MOVEMENT DIRECTOR
Fernanda Lippi, London based choreographer and movement director, founder of Zikzira Physical Theatre, has produced critically acclaimed work for film, stage and site-specific venues. Interested in innovation and exploring the potential of movement vocabulary, she has established an inimitable, exciting style.
As a Trinity Laban alumni, she performed a solo performance ‘Canvas’ at the opening of the Tate Modern and toured ‘Même Vieux Manteux’ in Europe. Subsequently, she worked with the most influential theatre companies in South America such as Teatro da Vertigem and Lot.
Fernanda’s live performances and films have exhibited at The Barbican, The Laban Theatre, Regent Street Cinema, Tate Modern, Sky Arts, Hebbel am Ufer (Berlin), Teatro Akropolis (Italy), SESC, CCBB and Itaú Espaço de Cinema (Brazil) amongst many others.
Fernanda has broken new ground exploring a combination of dance and film, which led her to choreograph ‘As Cinzas de Deus’ (Ashes of God), one of the first feature-length dance films of its kind.
Her second feature film ‘Sea without Shore’ in 2015, co-directed with Andre Semenza, had its world premiere at the Glasgow Film Festival. Together with Javier de Frutos and Paul Roberts, Fernanda was invited by BalletBoyz to co-choreograph ‘Kama Sutra’, a prime-time production for Sky Arts.
In 2017, she returned to live performance, choreographing 'Outro em Si', a large-scale live performance compiled of 12 dancers, commissioned by Sesc in Brazil. 'Outro em Si' was nominated for five Brazilian Sinparc 2018 Awards, picking up the coveted Best Show and Best Dancer Awards. 2018 also saw the Brazilian premiere of Memória Silenciosa, a medium-length film inspired by Outro em Si, co-directed and choreographed by Fernanda.
In 2019, Fernanda re-connected with Kid Loco to not only choreograph but also performed in his latest music video, “Unfair Game” featuring Olga Kouklaki. Winner of ten international awards including "Best Music Video 2020" Switzerland International Film Festival - now available on YouTube.
Lily of the Valley, a LGBTQ short film directed by Gary Grant in which Fernanda plays the lead has picked up 14 international awards.
Fernanda co-directed and performed in ‘Turning to Birds’, a series of films based on Cli-fi co-authored with algorithms. The series’ first instalment, Turning to Birds - All Gone was recipient of the Best Experimental Art Film at AFI, Cannes 2022. Turning to Birds - 200 Years of Evil Chill is currently being exhibited at festivals and a new instalment is being developed with Tom Radcliffe’s Lab, at Actors East, London.
Fernanda is currently in research and development for a One Woman Show, in co-production with The Lucid Artists, a female founded collective dedicated to creating provocative & liberating dramatic art.
